Tooth colored Fillings
Our office does not place amalgam fillings. We are a “mercury-free practice.”
Many people have silver/mercury fillings in their mouths from years past. These fillings are not very pleasing to the eye, and by design, “silver” fillings ultimately result in a weaker tooth structure. It is common to have teeth fracture around their silver fillings over time.
Composite “tooth-colored” fillings are not only more esthetic and unnoticeable, but they also require less removal of natural tooth structure than amalgam/”silver” fillings, resulting in a more conservative treatment choice that reduces the risk of post-op complications.
With this procedure, local anesthetic is placed, the cavity or defective restoration is removed with a dental drill, and the tooth is re-filled with tooth-colored composite material and shaped to look like the natural tooth again. A final polish is applied at the end to ensure your results are smooth and flawless. A filling appointment generally takes about 20-40 minutes.*
